What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional Nutrition is the practice of considering the whole person, their diet, lifestyle, history, and overall health picture, when addressing the underlying causes of disease and dysfunction. Similar to the practice of Functional Medicine, it takes a top to bottom, all-things-are-connected, systems approach to health. Functional Nutrition counselors do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat clients. They use systems and tools to uncover the sources of your dis-ease, and educate and support you in making diet and lifestyle changes to relieve them.

How can a Functional Nutrition Counselor help me?

Working with a FNC to improve your overall health can be beneficial to anyone, but especially those suffering from chronic or unexplained health conditions. Oftentimes, when someone is experiencing new or different physical and/or mental symptoms, there are biological processes out of balance within their system. A FNC will help to uncover the roots of your symptoms, prepare a personalized plan of action to start addressing them, and offer support and guidance along the way.

Does it matter where I live?

Currently, all sessions are done over the phone. As long as you have a good phone connection, we can meet virtually from any location.

What if I am already working with a doctor?

If you are already working with a doctor, but would like additional support, I am happy to help! I can work with you and your doctor (if prefered) to support you in accomplishing your health goals.

Do you take insurance?

At this time I am not able to accept insurance. Payments are due in full at the time of the consult. I can provide you with an invoice so that you can directly submit for reimbursement from your insurance carrier, if that is an option.
